Karate

Karate-do, or simply, Karate, is a Japanese-derived martial art that is practised worldwide and is a great way to train both the mind and the body.

Karate teaches patience, strength, and even self-defense, and Cedar Springs Health, Racquet and Sports Club offers classes with the highest quality instructors. And the best news? Our classes are free for all members!Karate is a great fitness experience for all ages because it connects the mind and body. Our classes teach the art of physical kicks, stances, punches, takedowns and more, giving students the confidence and skills to practise long into their futures. Karate is an excellent tool for developing flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular fitness and also coaches the mind in coordination, self-control, discipline, amd motivation. Long after the class is done, students take the lessons they learn and apply them to other elements of life.

Cedar Springs Karate classes are taught by instructors Sensei Steve Hillmer (6th Dan), Sempai Victor Turczynski (5th Dan) who teach traditional style karate following the teachings of O’Sensei Masami Tsuruoka. Cedar Spring Karate is a member of the Tsuruoka Karate Organization.
